What is a Full Stack Leader?
Issue 01 ・ Unpacking the stack required to lead and succeed in modern business.
It has never been more important for business leaders to look to the future.
Yet, when we are living through some of the most uncertain times we have ever faced, it can feel daunting to know where to start. There is pressure to be digital and not just do digital, a desire to embrace diversity, understand your audience and keep learning if you are want to be able to lead through the ambiguity.
I have found that there are 5 distinct layers that contain the key skills required to empower people, deliver growth and navigate ambiguity with bold ideas.
1. Customer Focus
Listening, measuring and experimenting to drive continuous improvement of the customer experience.
2. Culture + Connection
Building diverse teams to maximise perspectives and sharing empathy and inspiration to maintain momentum.
3. Business Strategy
Mapping the landscape to focus investment and turn vulnerability into value that can be leveraged for growth.
4. Data + Digital
Unlocking potential through digital enablement and turning data into insight that creates competitive advantage.
5. Critical Thinking
Mastering the best of what others have already figured out to feed a growth mindset and lead with curiosity.
Unpacking the stack together
I’m interested in unpacking all of the layers required to lead modern businesses with you, as someone who is actually doing it.
I see people talking about all of the various aspects of leadership independently, but rarely about how it all goes together and even less these days by people who are actually experiencing it.
Every Sunday I send out an email newsletter that deep dives into the topics within one specific layer. I challenge legacy thinking by sharing new perspectives, emerging tools and the best from other disruptors on the quest to help you grow your stack.
